Do I need to visit a Personal Injury solicitor or can everything be done over the phone and by e-mail? Do I need to use a local Solicitor?
These days, it’s possible to deal with a claim over the phone and by e-mail without ever physically meeting your Solicitor. If you need a meeting with your Solicitor, there are easily available video conference call facilities, for example FaceTime or Skype, and documents can easily be signed by e-mail. You need to check with the proposed Solicitor whether they offer these services in case you need them. Therefore, you can instruct a Solicitor in any part of the country and you are not limited by where the Solicitor is based in relation to you.
However, if you would prefer to meet your Solicitor to discuss your case, you may want to choose the Solicitor on the basis of where the Solicitor is based. Alternatively, you should check at the beginning whether the Solicitor, if they are not local to you, would be willing to come to you for a home visit should this be necessary in the course of the case.
